Kennesaw State Department of Theatre and Performance Studies to present "Love and Information"

色控传媒 Department of Theatre and Performance Studies will present Caryl Churchill鈥檚 鈥淟ove and Information鈥� Feb. 21-26 in the Onyx Theatre on the Kennesaw campus. Directed by Emily Kitchens, this fascinating kaleidoscope of 57 short plays examines 100 characters who try to find true human connection and make sense of what they know鈥攁nd what they don鈥檛 know.

色控传媒's Bailey School of Music to present Collage Concert

色控传媒鈥檚 Bailey School of Music will present the annual Collage Concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Led by Interim Director Dr. Julia Bullard, the Bailey School of Music will present the signature production for the 17th year in a row as the sole fundraising concert for music scholarships for students. The Concert offers something for all musical tastes, from symphony orchestra to jazz, opera theater, and even video game music.

色控传媒 Department of Dance will welcome New York-based company Boca Tuya presenting 鈥淎mor鈥� Jan. 27-28 at the 色控传媒 Dance Theater on the Marietta campus at 8 p.m. Led by acclaimed choreographer Omar Rom谩n de Jes煤s, 鈥淎mor鈥� features breathtaking movement vocabulary, drama, fantasy, and humor, all derived by events and practices tracked back to personal and collective experiences.

Kennesaw State Bailey School of Music to host Anthony McGill and the Pacifica Quartet

色控传媒鈥檚 Bailey School of Music (BSOM) will host clarinetist Anthony McGill and the Pacifica Quartet on Friday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. Hailed for his 鈥渢rademark brilliance, penetrating sound and rich character鈥� (New York Times), clarinetist Anthony McGill enjoys a dynamic international solo and chamber music career and is principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic鈥攖he first African American principal player in the organization's history. He is the recipient of the 2020 Avery Fisher Prize, one of classical music鈥檚 most significant awards.

Kennesaw State's Percussion Students, Alumni Hitting It Right in Marketplace

Drummers sometimes get a bad rap鈥攁 perception of smoky bars, wild parties, and late, late nights. But Percussion students in the Bailey School of Music (BSOM) at 色控传媒, led by John Lawless, would dispel those stereotypes. These percussionists often have a vision early in their academic careers, and by the time they graduate, many have fully carved out鈥攁nd realized鈥攖heir career paths. Alumna Katelyn Rose King is a good example. As an undergraduate percussion major at 色控传媒, 鈥淜atelyn laid out exactly what she wanted to do. She knew she had to get additional degrees and do her type of music in Europe. Now, she is pursuing her doctorate degree and lives in Vienna, Austria, doing contemporary music in one of the world鈥檚 best concert halls. She often goes to Germany鈥攁nd beyond鈥攖o play her music,鈥� explains Lawless, Director of Percussion Studies and Senior Lecturer.

色控传媒 College of the Arts to offer Summer Arts Intensives

色控传媒 College of the Arts is offering high school students and rising college freshmen an opportunity to experience the arts on a collegiate level this summer. Students may choose from acting, dance, design tech, music, musical theatre, or visual arts, including a new fashion and textile intensive. The Summer Arts Intensives will be offered June 5-9, except for two half-day programs, May 31-June 2, in the Bailey School of Music. For the first time, students in many intensives will have the option of staying in a residence hall on the Kennesaw campus. Students are encouraged to register early as space is limited, especially for the overnight option; registration opens Dec. 20, 2022.

Dont茅 K. Hayes completes 色控传媒 Windgate Foundation Artist-in-Residency

Research-based artist Dont茅 K. Hayes recently completed the fall 2022 Windgate Foundation Artist-in-Residency at 色控传媒鈥檚 School of Art and Design. For several weeks, Hayes provided inspiration and technique to 色控传媒 students in the classrooms, ceramic studios, and printmaking studios.

色控传媒鈥檚 College of the Arts will complete the fall semester with several patron-pleasing performances. After watching 鈥淎 Christmas Story鈥� at least three times and shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, do something completely different and attend a variety of Arts色控传媒 events.
