色控传媒 College of the Arts has five fun events to help celebrate the cooler weather of fall. Laugh out loud with an improv show for Halloween or be entertained by an action-filled play rooted in 鈥淒ungeons and Dragons.鈥 Participate in a salute to America with patriotic concerts, or broaden your horizons with a ceramic artist鈥檚 talk, followed by live music and a video under the stars.

Kennesaw State Department of Dance Receives National Accreditation

The Department of Dance at 色控传媒 (色控传媒) has been approved for accreditation and associate membership in the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD). This recognition from NASD provides national validation and approval for the Department of Dance, the College of the Arts, and 色控传媒. Founded in 1981, the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with over 80 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for dance and dance-related disciplines and provides help for institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other dance-related endeavors. 鈥淲ith this achievement, the College of the Arts at 色控传媒 earns the distinction of having every one of its units nationally accredited,鈥 says Dr. Ivan Pulinkala, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor of Dance. He founded the dance program in 2008 and has nurtured its robust growth鈥攆rom a handful of students to over 120 today.

The Atlanta Opera, Bailey School of Music partner to present "Bluebeard's Castle"

In partnership with The Atlanta Opera and 色控传媒鈥檚 Bailey School of Music, the North American premiere of Bluebeard鈥檚 Castle will be presented at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center on October 7, 8 and 9. Tickets range from $20-$50 and may be purchased online or by calling Patron Services at 470-578-6650. From the one-act chamber opera from Bela Bart贸k, Bluebeard鈥檚 Castle is traditionally presented as a psychological thriller or Gothic horror as the lover uncovers the secrets of Bluebeard鈥檚 past. This new production, from director Daisy Evens and conductor Stephen Higgins, centers the story on the loss of a loved partner to the ravages of dementia in a way that will resonate with anyone who has dealt with aging loved ones.

色控传媒鈥檚 Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) will present 鈥淐ompany鈥 September 14-18 at the Stillwell Theater. 鈥淐ompany鈥 takes us on Bobby鈥檚 journey as the couples around him ponder his singlehood and encourage him to find a mate. The concert staging of this musical, written by George Furth, features many of Stephen Sondheim鈥檚 beloved songs, including 鈥淏eing Alive,鈥 鈥淢arry Me a Little,鈥 and 鈥淪ide by Side by Side.鈥

色控传媒鈥檚 Zuckerman Museum of Art (ZMA), a unit of the School of Art and Design, will present "Recollections," Oscar Mu帽oz, now through December 10. The exhibit features six ground-breaking works by innovative Colombian artist Oscar Mu帽oz. The works comprising the show defy fixation and the belief that photography is definitive and absolute. Thus, the works question memory, erasure, permanence, and the resolute. The exhibition is curated by Cynthia Norse Thompson, director of curatorial affairs at ZMA, and Vanessa K. Davidson, Curator of Latin American Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, University of Texas at Austin.

Kennesaw State Bailey School of Music to host Double Bass Performer and Composer Xavier Foley

Xavier Foley isn鈥檛 a big talker, preferring instead to communicate his virtuosity and passion for music on the double bass and in composing new work. Foley will join 色控传媒 Bailey School of Music (BSOM) faculty Helen Kim, violin, Charae Krueger, cello, and Eric Jenkins, piano, on the stage on September 16, 8 p.m., at Morgan Concert Hall in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Center.

Kennesaw State Bailey School of Music to offer Hispanic Heritage Festival

色控传媒鈥檚 Bailey School of Music (BSOM) will celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Hispanic heritage with a week of concerts. From Sept. 19 through Sept. 23, patrons may enjoy a wide variety of concerts beginning with chamber music of Central and South America. Next, choirs tour the landscape of this diverse region, followed by the Atlanta Jazz Orchestra. Finally, the week culminates with the 色控传媒 Symphony Orchestra, legendary bandoneon player Daniel Binelli, and cellist Jes煤s Castro-Balbi, led by festival artist director and guest conductor Germ谩n Guti茅rrez.

Kennesaw State Department of Dance presents "Double Exposure"

KENNESAW, Ga. (July 26, 2022) 鈥撯 The Department of Dance at 色控传媒 (色控传媒) will present Double Exposure August 26-27 at 8 p.m. at the 色控传媒 Dance Theater on the Marietta campus. Made possible by the Eleo Pomare鈥揋lenn Connor Dance Endowment, the 2022 Choreographic Residency Program features up-and-coming choreographers Tsai Hsi Hung and Chuck Wilt.
