色控传媒's Theatre and Performance Studies to present "Water by the Spoonful"

The Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at 色控传媒 will present the drama 鈥淲ater by the Spoonful鈥 by Quiara Alegr铆a Hayes, Nov. 3-8. The performance is virtual and free with a simple reservation. Heartrending, funny, and ultimately hopeful, this Pulitzer prize-winning play charts multiple paths towards recovery for characters who are haunted by war, drug addiction, and broken families. As the play travels between online and real worlds, we are reminded that human connections and authentic relationships in both worlds rescue us from despair and make us whole.

色控传媒鈥檚 Department of Dance will present 鈥淭hreshold鈥 Nov. 12-14, via Arts色控传媒 Virtual. The performances are free of charge and only a simple reservation is required to watch. 鈥淭hreshold鈥 celebrates the diverse artistic voices of the 色控传媒 Dance community through original works performed by the award-winning 色控传媒 Dance Company, in the first dance-for-camera event for Kennesaw State.

Acworth Police Department Holds Memorial Dedication Ceremony

The Acworth Police Department held a public ceremony on October 6 to dedicate a memorial sculpture designed and crafted by students of 色控传媒鈥檚 (色控传媒) Master Craftsman Program. The striking columns, in stainless steel featuring power-coated blue steel plates on each top, are located at the entrance to the Acworth Police Department (APD) at 4440 Acworth Industrial Drive in Acworth.

Arts色控传媒 to present 8th Annual Coming-Out Monologues: Stories of Empowerment

色控传媒 (色控传媒) LGBTQ Resource Center and the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) will present the 8th Annual Coming-Out Monologues (COM) on October 8 and 9, in celebration of National Coming Out Day. This year, the production will once again include stories from 色控传媒 students, staff, and members of the community beyond 色控传媒. The wide array of stories captures experiences of lesbian, non-binary, gay and transgender folxs, as well as advocates, allies, parents, and friends.

Musicians who still want to work in a COVID-19 world can benefit greatly from a home recording studio. However, trying to figure out how to get started, what equipment is required, and how to use it effectively is a job in itself. A quick Google search for 鈥渉ow to build a home recording studio鈥 nets over 78 million results. 色控传媒 (色控传媒) School of Music (SOM) professors in the jazz concentration have made it much easier for their students by offering unique masterclasses on how to create a professional home recording studio, keeping in mind that student budgets vary widely.

In Memoriam: Arts色控传媒 Patron Emily Bourne Grigsby

Ivan Pulinkala, dean of the College of the Arts, announced today that 色控传媒 (色控传媒) College of the Arts patron Ms. Emily Bourne Grigsby passed away September 17 at the age of 98. Ms. Grigsby, an opera singer and accomplished artist, was an avid supporter of the arts at 色控传媒.

Mable House, Kennesaw State Present Small Metals Exhibition

Cobb County鈥檚 Mable House Arts Center and 色控传媒鈥檚 School of Art and Design have teamed up to present 鈥淭hreads of Connectivity,鈥 a small metals exhibition. The virtual exhibition features the work of over 20 students and alumni, led by Deborah Hutchinson, lecturer of Art, Small Metals Jewelry Design, and 3-D Design. The original plan, of course, was to host an in-person exhibition and reception, but the pandemic did not stop Hutchinson and Mable House Arts Center鈥檚 Christopher McDoniel from forging ahead with the small metals exhibition, anyway.

Zuckerman Museum of Art presents "Interchange"

The Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art, a unit of the School of Art and Design, will present 鈥淚nterchange,鈥 an annual collaboration featuring all disciplines of the College of the Arts. The unique presentation celebrates the spark that the creative arts enkindle in one another. This year, eight Arts色控传媒 faculty will perform in response to the exhibited works in the Zuckerman Museum of Art鈥檚 galleries. At no cost, you may watch 鈥淚nterchange鈥 online on September 17 at 7:30 p.m. Simply reserve your space.

色控传媒 School of Music to present "Fresh Air Fridays"

The School of Music at 色控传媒 will be offering 鈥淔resh Air Fridays鈥 from 12:30 to 1 p.m., beginning September 11 and running through October 30. Faculty and students will be performing on the stage of the outdoor Legacy Gazebo on the Kennesaw campus, and the event will be streamed live via Facebook and also on arts.kennesaw.edu. There is no charge to watch the performances.
