色控传媒 mechatronics student Arielle Charles is gaining hands-on experience in robotics, automation, and rapid prototyping through her summer internship at Vanderlande.
Arielle Charles is building more than just prototypes this summer鈥攕he鈥檚 building a future in robotics and automation.
As a Mechatronics Engineering Intern at Vanderlande, Arielle is applying her skills in 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and automation control to real-world engineering challenges. Her role includes designing and fabricating custom parts, programming PLCs, and testing physical systems to ensure performance and reliability.
鈥淭his internship is a transformative step in my journey,鈥 Arielle said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 giving me the hands-on experience I need to grow technically and professionally, and it鈥檚 already inspiring new ideas for my future senior design project.鈥
Arielle鈥檚 path to Vanderlande was shaped by her time at 色控传媒, where she immersed herself in research, leadership, and career development. Through the Mechatronics Engineering program, she gained deep knowledge in robotics and control systems. Her two years of undergraduate research, guided by mentors Dr. Muhammad H. Tanveer and Dr. Razvan C. Voicu, helped her develop critical thinking and technical expertise.
鈥淧resenting my research at 色控传媒鈥檚 undergraduate symposium was one of the most impactful moments of my college experience,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t challenged me to communicate complex ideas clearly and gave me the confidence to speak in front of professionals.鈥
Beyond academics, Arielle served as an Honors peer mentor and worked in the Department of Career Planning and Development, where she honed her communication, leadership, and public speaking skills. These experiences, she says, helped her become a more well-rounded and career-ready engineer.
鈥溕卮解檚 environment has been incredibly supportive,鈥 Arielle said. 鈥淭he combination of rigorous coursework, research opportunities, and a strong focus on career readiness gave me the tools to pursue meaningful goals in engineering.鈥
As she looks ahead, Arielle is excited to contribute to her team at Vanderlande and continue growing in the field of robotics and automation. 鈥淭his experience is solidifying my passion and preparing me for a long-term career in this space,鈥 she said.
