This past summer, assistant professor of trumpet Dr. Stephen Wadsack鈥痑nd undergraduate student鈥疊randon Hall鈥痶urned the spotlight on a frequently overlooked area of music: Greek trumpet compositions. Their project, supported by 色控传媒鈥檚 Undergraduate Research Symposium, consisted of an intensive eight-week study combining scholarship, performance and fieldwork abroad.

The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras (GYSO) has commissioned 色控传媒 (色控传媒) alumnus Brandon Gasaway to compose a new orchestral work in celebration of GYSO鈥檚 20th anniversary season. The world premiere will take place Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in Morgan Concert Hall.

KENNESAW, Ga. 鈥� Dr. Laurence Sherr, a distinguished faculty member at 色控传媒's Bailey School of Music (BSOM), has announced his retirement after three decades of mentoring young composers. Much of Sherr's work has centered on the Holocaust, earning him international acclaim for his education in this field. His 30-year legacy at 色控传媒 has seen the growth of the university and its music program alongside his extraordinary musical career.
