General Questions

  • At Orientation, you will learn about how to be a student at 色控传媒. This includes learning about available campus resources, meeting current student leaders, and meeting with an academic advisor to map out your academic journey.

    New Student Orientation Dates

  • New freshmen will register for classes at New Student Orientation. All other student types, including new transfer students, can see their registration information on the Registration tab of Owl Express (select "Prepare for Registration").
  • New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new freshman undergraduate students. This includes:

    • New Freshman
    • Transfer Freshman (students admitted with less than 30 transferrable credit hours)
    • Adult Learner/Non-Traditional Freshman (graduated high school 5 or more years ago)

  • Students are able to register for orientation 24-48 hours after they are officially accepted to the university. If you have questions about your admission status, please contact ksuadmit@kennesaw.edu
  • For both virtual and in-person orientation sessions, the student fee is $80.00. NOTE: Student orientation fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. 
     
    The Supporter Orientation fee is $20.00 for in-person sessions and free for virtual sessions.

  • Students who signed up and attended an orientation within two semesters (e.g. changed term to Spring 2026 but attended orientation for Summer 2025) of their new admissions term may be exempt from having to re-attend a New Student Orientation session. To apply for an exemption, please email ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu.
  • The student orientation fee covers a meal at one of our dining halls, your Mobile Talon Card, giveaways and important materials, staffing and space for us to host the Orientation session both virtually and in-person. 
  • Student orientation sessions are officially confirmed when payment is made, and you receive an official confirmation email sent to your 色控传媒 email address. If you have questions about if you are confirmed for your session, please email 色控传媒orientation@kennesaw.edu 
  • The Orientation fee for students, parents, and guests is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • If you are having trouble seeing session dates or registering for a session, please contact us at ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu. Include the issue you鈥檙e experiencing, your first and last name, and your 色控传媒 ID number when contacting us for a faster resolution time. 
  • You will receive more information sent to your 色控传媒 email about everything you need to do before attending orientation. You can also check your official orientation task list.

  • Yes, we highly recommend that you meet with your academic advisor before your orientation experience to feel comfortable with what courses to take. For general advising questions please email askadvising@kennesaw.edu 

 

In-Person Orientation

  • You will receive an email outlining where to park for your session.
  • We highly recommend you bring a government-issued ID (like a driver鈥檚 license or passport), mobile phone, comfortable walking shoes, and rain gear.
  • We will have staff and signs directing you to check-in for your session.
  • Yes, you will walk across campus, so wear comfortable shoes. Please indicate any mobility concerns and accommodation requests when you sign up for your orientation session. If you need a specific accommodation, please email sds@kennsaw.edu  
  • We highly recommend you arrive at least 5-10 minutes before your check-in time, so you are able to attend the required sections of your orientation.  
  • Late check-in will be held at the check-in location until 11 a.m. If you are going to be later than 11 a.m., please go back to the sign-up system and choose a new date. If you have questions about this, please email ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu
  • Students and supporters can expect to participate in required programming from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Optional programming will be held until 4 p.m.
  • Individuals who seek additional assistance should reach out to Student Disability Services at sds@kennesaw.edu prior to their orientation date, as well as fill out the appropriate sections of their orientation sign-up portal. Our office will be in contact with you before your orientation session.

Virtual Orientation

  • You will receive an email to your 色控传媒 student email with the link to your orientation session at least 24 hours before the date of your Orientation session. If you do not see an email from us, please reach out to ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu 
  • Students can choose to attend a virtual session to meet the orientation attendance requirement. Virtual sessions are facilitated live on Zoom. These sessions offer similar information for new students which includes meeting with your academic advisor, learning about campus services such as housing, dining, and parking, and meeting with your Orientation Leader. 
  • The live portion of the Virtual New Student Orientation experience is roughly 2 hours. This is to allow you to get as much information as possible to prepare you to join the 色控传媒 community. Following the live portion, you will register for classes and review post-orientation modules on your own. Your academic advisors will be available starting 1 hour after the live portion of your session ends.
  • You will receive an email with the link to your orientation session at least 24 hours before the date of your Orientation session.

Supporter Orientation

  • No, supporters are not required to attend orientation with their students. 
  • While supporters are with their students for most of the day, students will break out with Orientation Leaders to meet with their Academic Advising teams and register for classes. Students will meet back up with their supporters/guests during lunch or afternoon programming. A detailed schedule will be sent within 48 hours of the session.
  • $20.00 (Note: Orientation fees are non-refundable). The Supporter fee covers the program fees, materials, and lunch in the dining hall with your student. 
  • Due to space limitations, students are only able to sign up one guest for orientation. Additional guests may be added at check-in on the day of your session, if space allows. We recommend getting to the session when check-in begins (8:30 a.m.) to make sure you have the best opportunity to add a guest. The $20.00 Supporter Orientation fee must be submitted for each supporter/guest to attend orientation programming.
  • If your student has already checked in for orientation, please contact them to have them meet you at the check-in station. All supporters must check with their students for orientation programming. 
  • Supporters will receive a separate Zoom link for their orientation session. Parents or supporters should not use the zoom link sent to their students to access the virtual session. 
  • Children aged 6 years and younger can attend supporter orientation free of charge. Supporters will have to pay an additional $20.00 for any child above 6 years of age. 

Dual Enrollment Orientation

  • Yes, all fully accepted Dual Enrollment students must attend orientation.

    Accepted Dual Enrollment Student Info

  • If you have been accepted as a freshman student in addition to Dual Enrollment, your record will need to be updated to allow you to sign up for Dual Enrollment Orientation. Please reach out to ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu with any questions. 
  • Yes, all new Freshman admits are required to attend Freshman Orientation.
  • Yes, please use the Tasklist feature in your reservation to prepare for your session. Please make sure to complete all required tasks before your orientation session. 

  • While both options provide the same content, in-person orientation takes place on campus while virtual orientation takes place via Zoom. In-person orientation allows students to come to campus to register for classes, eat at the dining hall and take a campus tour to get a full experience of campus life. 
  • For in-person orientation, check in begins at 8:30 a.m. Required programming is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with optional programming until 4 p.m. Virtual orientation is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

International Student Orientation

  • All undergraduate and graduate International Students are required to attend International Student Orientation. 
    • At International Orientation you will learn about the programs, resources, and campus services that will guide you in your transition as a new Owl. You will:
      • Meet with the International Student and Scholar Services Team to learn about important visa information.
      • Connect with university faculty, staff, and other 色控传媒 students, including current international students.
      • Take a campus tour, visit the campus bookstore, learn about your Mobile Talon Card, and more!
  • $80.00. This covers the program fees, materials you will receive, and lunch in the dining hall. 
  • A government issued ID (driver鈥檚 license, passport, or Talon Card) is required to check into International Student Orientation. We also recommend you bring comfortable walking shoes and rain gear.
  • We recommend students register for classes before their orientation session. For assistance with course registration please contact your Academic Advisor.

  • No, due to capacity limitations, students are not able to bring guests with them to International Student Orientation.
